2005 National Open Top Prospect Showcase
Robbie Collier is a 5'11" 160 pound 2007 outfielder, left handed pitcher, and first baseman from Jacksonville, Florida who attends Eagle's View Academy. He showed excellent arm strength from both the outfield and infield by throwing 86 mph and 79 mph respectively. His throws were very accurate and he had a very quick release. He had good actions and soft hands as well as very nice baseball instincts. At the plate, Robbie has a nice short stroke with good bat speed. He is a contact hitter with good bat control who also is an adept bunter. He stays back well and has a smooth stroke. Collier is a good looking left handed pitcher who has three quality pitches. His fastball at 82 mph had plus movement. His curveball at 72 mph had nice tight rotation with good depth to it. His change up was also a very nice pitch at 61 mph. He projects to throw much harder and knows how to pitch right now. Robbie is a top two way prospect who is also a very good student with a 3.8 gpa.
