LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2005 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Frank Florio is a 2007 OF/3B/C from Immaculata HS in Long Valley, NJ, with a 5'10'', 173 lb. frame. He has a fairly mature build and good present strength. Florio showed good outfield defensive fundamentals and good on line carry with 78 mph throwing velocity. He ran the 60 in 7.44. Florio's game is all about hitting, though, and he was one of the more impressive young hitters at the showcase. He has quick hands to the ball and very good present bat speed. He hits from a solid base and is very balanced though contact. Florio has some upper cut in his swing and lifts the ball consistently and drives it to all fields. It's a home run/power oriented approach and Florio has the bat speed and hitting ability to make it work for him. We're betting that he hits bunches of home runs back in New Jersey. He looks like he has the balance and bat speed to adjust to upper level pitching, as well, and be a very productive power hitter at the next level. Florio is also an excellent student who has his eye on some top level academic schools. Top level hitting prospect!
