2005 National Open Top Prospect Showcase
Ian Solomon is a 5'11" 170 pound 2006 left handed pitcher and first baseman from East Northport, New York who attends Northport High School. He has a lean athletic build who has good strength. Ian pitches from a low 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. He uses a drop and drive delivery with a very high leg kick but he still has good balance. He has a full hip turn and really drives toward the plate. His fastball topped out at 75 mph and his change up at 65 mph. His curveball was at 67 mph with 1/7 rotation and he showed a good feel for it. Solomon is a contact hitter with a good approach to the opposite field. He has a smooth level swing plane and makes consistent contact. Ian has solid tools with good potential at the next level who is also a good student.
