Luke Arnett is a 6-0/165, (2008), SS/RHP from Southside, AL with very good 7.13 sixty speed and 4.38 home to first base time. He's a right handed hitter with fair bat speed and good balance. He tends to sweep the bat and be rotational in his approach. His bat speed will improve with strength and physical maturity. In the infield, Arnett throws from a slinging low 3/4 arm slot that could raise up with better footwork. He showed 72 mph arm strength during drills. On the mound Arnett throws from a low 3/4 slot with a loose arm actions that works well. He shows quick arm speed and had a 79fb and 68slider. He locates both pitches well with good life on his fastball. He has sound mechanics and gets lots of ground balls & swings and misses. Arnett knows how to set up hitters and gets good extention out front. His slider has hard and tight action with good depth. He works quickly and aggressively. While Arnett is a primary shortstop, we liked him just as well as a right handed pitcher. He's young and projectable both ways and should keep improving. Good follow. Excellent student.
