2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Ryan Nelson is a 2020 OF/3B with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from West Chester, PA who attends West Chester Bayard Rustin. Tall frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Worked out defensively from the infield showing solid range while moving for baseball laterally. Rounds well and worked through baseball efficiently. Works baseball to mid section and funnel and released from a low three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated softer carry across the infield topping at 70 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly closed stance and high back elbow set. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a linear plane through extension. Displayed developing feel for the barrel with occasional bat speed when delivering bat head to contact out front. Primarily looked to to middle of the field but flashed the ability to turn barrel and work pull side as well. Very good student.
