2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
John Bunder is a 2007 SS/RHP from Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, with a 6'3'', 165 lb. frame. Bunder is a tall, lean, and lanky player with room to grow. He showed good actions defensively with soft hands and smooth footwork, and he has the athleticism and body control to make all of the plays in the middle infield. Bunder has a strong arm with good accuracy. He is a right handed hitter with good bat speed and patience at the plate. Bunder stays balanced through his swing and makes solid contact to all fields. He is currently a gap to gap hitter, but his power could improve with added strength. On the mound he showed his lively and loose arm from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick arm and gets good extension out front and finishes his pitches well. Bunder gets late run on his fastball that topped out at 82 mph. He also throws a sweeping slider at 70 mph. Bunder has the chance to be a two-way prospect, but we really love what he has to offer defensively and at the plate.
