Cameron Barrier is a 2019 LHP/1B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Clearwater, FL who attends Calvary Christian HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, still projects well moving forward. Ran a 7.80 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, works with a quick, up-tempo pace on the mound; utilizes a belt high leg lift while staying compact before getting down the mound. Gathers tall and incorporates lower half well, front side opens early at times coming down the mound. On line arm action working to a low three-quarters release point, creates nice running life to the arm side with fastball and filled the zone nicely. Worked from similar release point ton curveball, shows 1-7 shape with some depth and begins on similar plane as fastball. Comfort to throw in any count and miss bats; also flashed a changeup at 71 mph with developing feel. Fields the ball out front at first base, shorter arm action with tight release from ear, takes short steps off the bag and shows a quick release on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant hitter, stays short to the ball with quickness to hands. Occasional lift to swing path and swings with intent, looks to drive the ball at point of contact. Very good student.
