Giancarlo Cangro is a 2021 C/OF with a 5-10 196 lb. frame from Matawan, NJ who attends Old Bridge. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and advanced physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front with two hands, upper body dominant mechanics and can implement additional footwork and lower half into release, quick release from a compact arm action, work around the base well with throws, shows carry on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball and incorporates physical strength well into swing with present bat speed. Occasionally mistimed leading into swing, linear path through the zone with occasional lift and shows ability to impact when squared. Has tools to build off of offensively. Very good student.
