Charlie Cucchiara is a 2019 RHP/3B, SS with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from East Meadow, NY who attends East Meadow. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Stays tall at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Lands at a slightly closed position on front side an finishes to glove hand side. Medium arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters slot producing good arm speed through extension. Fastball has some downhill angle through the zone with occasional run, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball had 9/4 shape with loose spin and some sweep to glove side. Showed good feel for curveball offering with the ability to double up and throw in negative counts. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a straight changeup in the low 70's. Consistently changed speed and worked to each edge of the zone inducing weak contact. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing aggressive footwork while rounding the baseball. Clean glove actions with developing fluidity while working through transition. Released from a mid to low three-quarters arm slot topping at 73 miles per hour across the infield. Right handed hitter with a balanced, slightly open stance and sweeping front side trigger. Creates shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Simple, repeatable hand path to contact with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but flashed the barrel control to work the ball the other way as well. Good student.
