Thomas Spiwak is a 2018 RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Toms River, NJ who attends Toms River North High School. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength well proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 5.43 40-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, simple delivery on the mound with some drop and drive. Stays very short and compact through the back working to a three-quarters arm slot with extension out front, quick arm action produced fastball up to 87 mph, left the hand cleanly with heavy and late sinking life to the bottom of the zone. Lands on line with front side, shows ability to work to either side with fastball, easy arm action and held velocity while projecting for more. Changeup is a quality pitch at present, 80 mph offering with late fade and ability to spot down in the zone. Gets under breaking ball at times, shows depth with tight rotation and 10-4 shape. Similar arm strength and ease across the outfield, developing outfield actions with some uphill at release. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and gets closed at contact. Uses strength well to generate bat speed with line drive swing plane, upper body swing and keeps hands in throughout. Named to Northeast Indoor Top Prospect List. Good student.
