Matthew Coles is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-0 145 lb. frame from Winter Garden, FL who attends Windermere Prep. Long, tall frame with lean, projectable build, plenty of room to fill out. Solid delivery, maintains balance well and has good timing, rhythm, and fluidity, shows ability to repeat mechanics. Clean, loose arm-action, works to a high 3/4's arm slot, gets extended over frontside. Fastball up to 76 mph, offering has natural armside run, also shows ability to cut the pitch, solid command to both sides of plate. Also shows feel for long-breaking curveball with 1/7 shape and changeup with slight fade. Knows how to pitch, does a good job of keeping hitters off balance. Also plays first base, accurate throws across the diamond, soft hands and nice actions, instincts. Right handed hitter, upright stance, handsy swing with line-drive swing plane. Short, efficient path to the ball, some feel for the barrel. Very good student.
