Jomar Ortiz is a 2018 C with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Aguas Buenas, PR who attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS. Medium frame with solid present build; body projects well moving forward. Ran 60 yard dash in 8.25 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based, open stance with high hand set and leg lift trigger. Rotational swing in upper half, line drive swing plane, approach works back through the middle and to the opposite field, showed good ability to hit the ball into the air to the opposite field. Worked out defensively behind the plate, side-set coming forward into reception, stands up after reception, transfers cleanly, shows quick arm stroke with quick release, has quality arm strength clocked up to 73 MPH. Solid accuracy. Good student.
