Draeden Spang is a 2019 RHP/MIF, OF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends George Washington. Medium frame with long limbs and beginnings of strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and works to the plate with tall and fall lower half actions. Works over front side well and tends to work off to glove side at finish. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot with a fastball offering that flashed good downward angle through the zone in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and late depth. Curveball showed best break when staying on top of offering and working to the bottom of the zone. Also flashed a straight changeup in the mid 70's, maintained arm speed with offering creating good deception. Consistently filled the strike zone with the ability to double up with off speed pitches. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position prior to creating on line momentum to the bag. Flashed some range with athletic actions while on the run. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot topping at 78 miles per hour across the infield. Right handed hitter with a crouched, even stance and simple front side trigger. Works to a taller front side at contact with linear lower half actions to contact. Quick hands, with a direct path to contact that produced a line drive plane through extension. Consistently looked to throw the barrel and work to the pull side gap. Flashed the ability to work to all fields when letting the ball travel to a deeper position in the zone. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
