Rob Kurtz is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'3'', 165 lb. frame from Brentwood, TN, who attends David Lipscomb High School. Named to the Top Prospect team at the event. Kurtz has a tall and lean frame with a projectable body. On the mound he throws from a tight 3/4 arm slot with easy arm action. Kurtz has a smooth delivery with a short arm circle on the back side. Kurtz stays balanced over the rubber getting to a good leverage point. He gets arm side life on his fastball that topped out at 83 mph, and he has very projectable velocity. Throws a soft CB at 66 mph, and shows a good feel for his CH at 74 mph. He keeps the ball down in the zone and is a consistent strike thrower. Upside on the mound. Offensively he has solid bat speed from the right side. He is a line drive hitter who squares up the ball well. Kurtz stays inside the ball and uses the entire field. He is also a good student.
