Grant Askins is a 2017 1B/OF with a 6-3 210 lb. frame from Anaheim Hills, CA who attends Canyon. Large frame with excellent strength and overall physicality throughout body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.31 seconds. Consistently squared up the baseball and drove it to all fields in game action. Times up barrel tip with leg lift pre-swing, brings his lower half into swing with authority and generates good hip torque. Shows ability to use whole field. Has good hand speed, generates solid bat speed with very good jump off the barrel when squared. Showed very well defensively in game at 1st base. Good footwork around and off the bag, fields cleanly and understands positioning. Also worked out in the OF, moves well to the ball and fields cleanly. Transfers well and has clean release, OF velocity up to 77 MPH. Named to 2015 California Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
