Matthew Boynton is a 2018 SS/P with a 6-1 153 lb. frame from Tallahassee, FL who attends Maclay High School. Lean, athletic build with good room to fill in frame with additional strength. Posted a 7.13 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, fielded deep with a very strong arm up to 88 mph and used his length to his advantage. Changed arm slots well and made a strong play on the slow roller. At the plate, shifts and separates hands well working to a positive attack angle with a line drive swing plane. Found the barrel consistently in BP hitting around the ball some, but making consistent loud contact. Also pitched, threw from a three quarter arm slot with the ability to get to both sides of the plate. Fastball showed good, heavy arm side life at 82-84/86 mph and held it from the stretch. Also flashed a strong curveball at 72 mph with 11/5 shape that could be a strong offering as it develops consistency. Very good student. Named to Top Prospect List.
