Michael Pelaez is a 2017 1B/RHP with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Tampa, FL who attends Plant High School. Large frame with a tall, strong build. Posted a 7.24 60 yard dash. In the field, showed good arm strength across the diamond with sound footwork around the bag. At the plate, used a slight crouch and power oriented approach. Present strength, bat speed and extension. Two home runs in batting practice. Generates carry with his swing that allows for easy power. On the mound, rocker step start with medium leg kick. Fast paced, online delivery that creates good momentum to the plate. Three quarter arm slot with an effortless release. Heavy fastball that sat in the high 80's and topped out at 91 with tremendous life. Works both sides of the plate and challenges hitters on the inner half, good command of fastball. Should continue to develop secondary offerings. Exceptional student. Named to Top Prospect List.
