2005 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Jared Wagner is a 2007 RHP/IF from De La Salle High School in Danville, CA, with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. He is a strong and mature player with upside on the mound. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. His arm is long and loose with good arm speed, and he gets good running action with his fastball in on the hands of RH batters. He hides the ball well and hits his spots with all three pitches. His curveball has an 11 to 5 break at 68 mph, and he also mixes in a deceptive changeup at 71 mph. His pitches all have good life and he doesn't give up solid base hits. He is a pitcher that must be followed. At the plate he hits from the right side with bat speed. He can be a dangerous hitter when he gets his arms extended, and can currently drive the gaps with more to power to come. He is a very projectable two-way prospect with a good frame and room to get stronger. Wagner is a must follow, and is a very good student as well.
