Tanner Chafin is a 2017 3B/MIF, RHP with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends West Forsyth. Medium frame with athletic, slender present build; good projection remaining on body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.05 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-set, open stance with high hands and back elbow. Shows line drive swing plane with solid bat speed, hands get through the zone well with good intent and overall feel for the barrel. Whole-field approach, comfortable using the middle of the diamond and will go to all fields when necessary. Has jump when timed up consistently, quality hitting tools overall. Worked out defensively in the infield, funnels ball well out front and fields cleanly, athletic actions through fielding to throwing mechanics, gets off accurate throws across the diamond from varying arm slots up to 78 MPH. Pitched as well, compact delivery with rocker step to start, stays balanced throughout and shows repeatability and simplicity throughout delivery. Quick arm action from extended low three quarters arm slot, fastball worked 81-83 MPH with good running life to arm side. Comfortable pitching off the fastball and attacking hitters early and often with it.
