2021 Summer Northeast Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Tyler Smith is a 2021 C/RHP/1B with a 6-3 230 lb. frame from Babylon, NY who attends The Stony Brook. From behind the dish, Smith showcased a compact release that consistently got the ball out quickly with sound footwork, recording a 2.08 pop time. Cleaning up the accuracy will make him more of a defensive asset. On the mound, Smith worked from a 3/4 slot with good downhill momentum. He flashed a sharp slider that had lots of late bite to it, constantly getting right handed hitters to chase. Offensively, Smith started from a wider slightly open stance with compact bat speed and feel for the barrel. He showed strong hands through the zone and big time power potential when the ball gets squared up, recording a 92 mph exit velo. Ran a 7.87 60 yard dash. Named to the 2021 Summer Northeast Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
