Matthew Perez is a 2016 LHP with a 5-11 145 lb. frame from Miramar, FL who attends West Broward HS. Slender young high waisted build, lots of room to get stronger. Compact arm action, 3/4's arm slot, short stride out front, repeats mechanics well, limited lower half use. Fastball topped out at 75 mph, maintains velocity well from the stretch, can throw to both sides of the plate but still working on vertical control. Good feel for change up with some fading action, soft curveball with occasional 1/7 depth, tends to slow body/arm on curveball. Mixes all three pitches well and pitches to contact, can be effective when pounding the zone. Good student.
