2018 Florida Prospect Showcase
Channing Young is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-4 250 lb. frame from Clearwater, FL who attends Palm Harbor University School. Extra large frame with present strength and physicality to the body. Primary righthanded pitcher with a balanced delivery. Higher leg lift and follows through nicely. Utilizes his backside well through the finish. Repeats the delivery well and worked from a mid-three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action. Stays online toward the plate and worked up to 83 mph with the fastball. Curveball flashed tightness with 12/6 shape and the makings of a swing-and-miss offering. Pounded the strike zone and worked with command of the fastball to all four quadrants. Secondary first baseman where the arm strength plays nicely. Good actions with coordinated movements while the footwork is extremely good around the bag. Righthanded hitter with a low hand set and a hanging leg lift trigger into the swing. Big raw power to the pull side and can impact a ball with tremendous strength. Uphill swing path and power makes the overall profile intriguing as a two-way prospect. Good student.
