Avery Baker is a 2018 3B/1B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Lancaster, OH who attends Lancaster. Large frame with a solid, athletic build and present strength. Ran a 7.52 sixty yard dash. Primary third baseman, shows compact footwork while ranging and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions and funnels baseball at a slightly deeper position. Clean, extended glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Accurate across the infield producing some carry to the bag, topped at 76 mph. Also worked out defensively from first base showing the same clean glove actions. Flashed quick footwork while pivoting into throws to second base, topped at 72 mph. Right handed hitter with an open stance and deep hand set. Creates separation at load and launches to contact with linear actions. Shifts into contact well producing solid bat speed at contact. Attacks baseball out front with some strength at contact producing occasional loud contact to the gaps. Primarily used a gap to gap approach but shows the barrel skills to hit to all fields. Tools will continue to develop with phsyical maturity and repetion. Good student as well.
