Julian Jackson is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-6 188 lb. frame from Powder Springs, GA who attends Hillgrove HS. Large, tall frame with long limbs. Frame projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.10 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a repeatable, smooth paced delivery. Creates a long arm circle back at separation and releases from a high three-quarters arm slot. Uses lower half well while working to the plate and stays on line through finish. Fastball has good downhill angle to the plate with late life between 81-85 miles per hour. Curveball flashed sharp bite with good rotation when located at the bottom of the strike zone. Very comfortable approach on the mound, repeats arm action well with the ability to command both pitches to each edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from first base showing quick, athletic footwork while working through transition. Releases from a low three-quarters arm slot that created good carry and accuracy across the infield at 79 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, even stance and high back elbow set. Stacks back side at load and launches with linear actions to contact. Hands come through the zone on a compact, naturally lifted plane that created occasional back spin to the gaps. Flashed some jump off the barrel when creating separation while staying behind the baseball at contact. Named to the 2016 National Underclass-Main Event Top Prospect List. Good student as well.
