JP Olson is a 2019 C/OF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Stoughton, MA who attends Catholic Memorial. Medium-large frame with athletic present build; body projects well moving forward. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.01 seconds. Sets up to hit with higher back elbow, clean launch angle with good bat speed, creates torque in hips and shifts well into contact. Good bat-to-ball skills, worked up both gaps with authority, will only develop more power as he continues to get stronger. Primary catcher, receives well and gains good ground out of crouch, quick transfer and release, online and accurate throws with good carry to bag. Also took reps in OF, moves to ball okay, shows quickness to arm with throws clocked up to 81 mph. Named to 2017 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List; very good student.
