Evan Matthews is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Philadelphia, PA who attends St. Joseph's Prep. Medium athletic build with a lean and projectable build, will continue to gain additional strength. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, works from behind the ball well with quick feet, long arm action with strength and carry on throws, gets extended out front and shows accuracy to the bag. Moves well in the infield and remains balanced charging in, accuracy and carry on throws across with nice hands. Also pitched, generates solid downhill plane on fastball topping 77 mph and fill up the zone. Natural movement on fastball and can locate to the inner half. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and back elbow. Shows a short path to the ball with an aggressive approach and balance through swing. Repeats swing well and shows fluidity through the zone with occasional lift at contact. Nice tools that project well with added strength. Named to Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List. Very good student.
