2005 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Leeper is a lean 6-0, 170 lb outfielder from North Carolina with a lean athletic build and high level physical tools. He ran the 60 in a solid 7.07 and threw an excellent 90 mph from the outfield. Where Leeper really stands out, though, is with the bat. He is very quick and strong with the wood bat and stands up at the plate with the approach that he knows he's going to hit the ball hard. He faced two pitchers throwing in the mid to upper 80's, including AFLAC All-American Jeremy Jeffress, and lined 2 hard hits. Leeper has a level, controlled swing that makes it easy for him to adjust to different pitches. Leeper also showed easy power with a double and a long home run to left field. Leeper also took the mound for a short stint and threw 84 mph with a 71 mph curveball. Leeper was one of the top prospects at the event and the best present hitter and has the type of build and approach to the game where you know he's going to keep getting better. This is a very good baseball player and a national level follow. Leeper is also an outstanding student with a 4.0+ grade point average.
