Neill is a 6-1, 210 senior right handed pitcher from Texas. We're told that he had a severe case of poison ivy at the event, which we can definitely understand could have affected his performance. Neill has a compact delivery with a short, quick arm action and a standard 3/4's release point on most of his pitches, especially his fastballs. He gets good direction to the plate and could probably increase his velocity a bit with a more aggressive use of his lower body and strong hips. Neill's fastball was 81-83 mph with occasional arm side tailing action. He varied the release point on his curveball from his regular release all the way down to an extended low 3/4's and effectively managed the break and plane on his curveball according to what he wanted to do on that pitch. Neill looked like a primary curveball pitcher who understands how to spin the ball. We didn't see a slider or change up but both would be good pitches for Neill to develop and add to his deception. We'd like to see Neill when he's 100% healthy and working a whole game and in rhythm. Good Follow. Also a good student.
