Brett Wicklund is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Lane Technical. Tall, lean frame with wiry strength. Projects. Near overtop arm slot with good plane. Generates hip coil at balance point with a long arm action on delivery. Commands each side of zone witih fastball and generates good arm side sink. Fastball ranged 81-84 mph, topped at 84 mph. Curveball had 12/6 shape with good depth. Has quality feel for pitch with hammer potential. Has some jerk on curveball that will occasionally pull him to 1B side. Curveball topped at 72 mph. Pounded strike zone with both pitches and both sides. Held velocity well. Low hand set and load at the plate. Line drive swing path with some present bat speed. Very short hand and barrel path to contact. Hard contact in BP when on time. Ability to drop bat head on pitches down for hard contact. Attacks ball with a linear lower half while hitting of a firm front side. Smooth arm with short arm actions from 1B, topped at 81 mph across. Good glove work to both sides. Fields a little high at times. Projects well. Good student as well.
