John Mejia is a 2015 LHP/1B with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Jackson, NJ who attends Ranney. Medium, athletic build with a lean build and room to fill out with added strength, high waist. Primary left-handed pitcher, works from a three-quarter arm slot with a short arm action in the back. Stays tall on back side, hides the ball well and creates deception. Hitters don't see it out of hand. Online delivery. Fastball topped out at 74 mph with occasional sink and ability to work to both sides of the plate. Tight spin on curveball at 68 mph with 1-7 break. Mixes well, flashed a straight changeup at 68 mph, generates a lot of swings and misses.
