Carl Gorman is a 2007 LHP/1B from Miami Country Day High School in Miami, FL, with a lean 6'1'', 180 lb. frame. On the mound Gorman throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with balanced delivery. His arm works well with good arm speed that helped produce a fastball that topped out at 75 mph. Gorman gets cutting action on his fastball in on the hands of right handed hitters producing many ground ball outs. He also mixes in a 62 mph curveball with a two to eight break that he throws for strikes. Gorman has good touch and feel for his pitches and keeps the hitters off balance. He did not hit during batting practice, however he did hit during the games. He hits from an open stance that he closes off well at contact. Gorman uses a toe tap trigger and hits with a line drive swing plane. He is also a good student.
