2006 National Underclass Showcase
Brian Busch is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Boca Raton FL, who attends West Boca HS. He has a big, strong mature body on a large frame. Busch was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. Busch is a quality two-way prospect with college level skills on both side of the ball. He has a power pitcher's build on the mound with a quick, loose arm action. Busch has some effort in his delivery and flies open on release, which often leaves his arm lagging behind. He looks strong enough and loose enough to be able to tone down his delivery and not loose any stuff. His fastball has good late life at 84-87 mph. Busch throws a slurvy curveball at 73 mph that has good spin but he might be better off throwing a true slider. He mixed in a few 75 mph change ups. Offensively, Busch hits out of a wide stance with a full, extended swing. His plus strength gives him plus raw power and he showed good abilty to stay closed and square up on balls. He has easy pull power off a line drive swing plane. Busch might have to shorten his swing some again higher velocity pitchers but the raw tools are there to be a middle of the order run producer. Colleges should be keying on this young prospect. Busch is also a good student.
