Roddy is a 5-10, 180 lb right handed hitting sophomore first baseman from Texas. Roddy ran the 60 in 7.58 and threw 76 mph during infield drills. He showed soft hands and some range on defense and is an asset at first base. Offensively, Roddy showed very sound hitting fundamentals, with a quick short swing and very good balance through contact. He has projectable power as he adds strength and bat speed. Roddy also threw an inning of relief, touching 79 mph with good running life on his fastball and showing a 64 mph curveball. He had the same type of solid fundamentals pitching as he did with a bat in his hand. Young players who do things the right way tend to keep getting better as they get stronger and faster because the foundation is already there. Named to the Top Prospect Game.
