Joey Hainsfurther is a 2008 SS/C with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Highland Park HS. He has a medium build with good compact strength. Hainsfurther is a primary shortstop now but will be a second baseman or catcher at the next level. We've seen him catch and his tools/skills play really well there. His ability at second base in Cincinnati was stunning, though. He has excellent hand quickness, very quick and balanced feet and his arm strength is far better than you will find on many high level second baseman. He played with flash and skill and really stood out. Offensively, Hainsfurther is a switch-hitter with similar approaches from both sides and a bit more bat speed left handed. He has a busy set up both ways, with a deep load and a hand hitch to get the bat going, which affects his timing. Once he gets his swing going he has a quick line drive stroke and hits the ball hard to all fields. He has a bit more lift right handed but more length as well. Hainsfurther has some adjustments to make with the bat still but he has the skills and approach to be a solid top of the order hitter. He's a ball player type with a gamer mentality and performs at a high level. Hainsfurther is also a very good student.
