2016 Mid Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Brandon Mology is a 2017 RHP/2B with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Wall, NJ who attends St Rose High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulder and a long, lean build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins delivery with a leg lift up to belt, gets tall on backside with a hip turn at the top, full hand path prior to break. Compact arm stroke through the back and shows nice arm speed while working to a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, able to generate subtle life when on top of ball and down in the zone. Holds velocity out of the stretch, able to induce ground ball contact. Showed both a slider and curveball, short life to slider with 10-4 shape at 71 mph while curveball showed more 12-6 life with short depth, slows arm action some at release. Has a feel for the changeup as well, proper rotation to the pitch at 71 mph with fading life. Feel for arsenal and can mix and sequence well. Athleticism up the middle too, fields out front with soft hands and funnels well, balance and quickness to footwork while moving, ball comes out clean and easy across the diamond and consistently gets on top of throws. Switch-hitter, begins with an upright stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the righthanded box. Upper body dominant swing with a linear swing path through the zone, shows ability to create extension out front. Loads hands back some at start of swing, shows a nice feel for the barrel. From the left side, high hand set and back elbow to start, wide and open base. Line drive swing plane with similar feel for the barrel, shows a tick more fluidity and hand speed from the left, creates contact out front with occasional lift. Very good student.
