Andrew Biancardi is a 2008 right hand hitting infielder from Aptos HS, residing in Aptos, CA. Named a Top Prospect at this event. Biancardi has a 6'0" 182 lb. frame and strong, broad, athletic build that should easily hold more muscle in the coming years. He is a high level hitter, albeit not one that has a text book swing. He simply has a knack for squaring up at contact and hammering the baseball to all fields. Frankly, Biancardi is a hit machine. His strongest attribute is that, other than his feel for hitting, he keeps the barrel in the hitting zone for a long time. He has good hands that are strong and they react quickly. Another strong attribute Biancardi shares with top hitters is the he recognizes pitches well and does so early. He can and does hit where he is pitched and because he does see the ball so early, he is able to hit the ball hard to all fields. His swing is simple and short to the ball. The power is not far behind if the way the ball jumps off his bat is any indication. He is the type of hitter that a coach just puts in the middle of the line-up early in his career and keeps there, rarely if ever messing with his swing. Defensively Biancardi has a good skill set and can play up the middle at the high school level, but likely will move to 3rd base in college. His hands and actions are good, with a decent release. His range is adequate up the middle and is best at 3rd base. In any case, Biancardi's bat is the main tool and it plays very well now and even better in the future.
