Phillip Ortiz is a 2013 RHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Ponce, PR who attends IIBAHS. Medium build with good hip and lower half strength. Slow paced leg raise delivery, 3/4's release slot but will drop lower at times, arm is loose and quick. Fastball to 87 mph, consistent velocity with lots of run and sink, really gets good arm side life pitching to left handed hitters. Slurve type breaking ball with hard spin and good bite at times, has some feel for changing depth and shape. Good change up with cutting action at times. Challenges hitters aggressively, especially the top prospect hitters. Projects a bit and has three solid present pitches and a mature approach to pitching.
