Garrett Michaud is a 2006 1B/LHP from Gig Harbor, Washington, with a 6'1", 180 lb. frame. Michaud looks very comfortable around the first base bag. He moves well around the bag and stays in well on balls in the dirt with good fielding actions. Offensively he gets out on his front side early, but he keeps his hands back and gets them through the hitting zone well. He has a line drive bat path with good bat speed and strength in his swing. Presently he is a gap to gap hitter, but when he learns to keep his weight back longer those gap shots might turn into deeper hit balls. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle on the backside. Michaud has some slinging action with solid arm speed. His fastball topped out at 78 with some late run, and he mixed in a 64 mph sweeping curveball, and a 66 mph change up. Michaud projects as a first baseman and hitter at the next level. He is also an excellent student.
