2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
O’Conner is a sophomore left handed hitting catcher from Florida. He has a slender, athletic body that is projectable for size and strength gains. O’Conner was one of the better 2007 hitters at the National Underclass Showcase. He hits out of a tall, balanced stance and moves through the ball to his front side very smoothly. O’Conner’s swing is level with good present bat speed and the potential for plenty more. He hit the ball squarely just about every swing in BP and in his game at bats and did a great job hitting to all fields. We’d be very surprised if O’Conner doesn’t develop into a top flight hitter at the next level. Defensively, O’Conner’s tools and skills were about average for his age. His arm strength is still developing. He showed best during games and had some quickness and range behind the plate.
