2004 Underclass National Showcase
Steven Stropp -- Stropp is a very physically mature junior catcher from Florida who has done some serious work on his body. This kid is strong right now and really doesn’t need to get much stronger. Stropp generates serious pro level bat speed at the plate right now, too. His bat whistled through the zone during batting practice and he had a couple of doubles during game action. Stropp’s bat speed was among the best at the showcase and his contact ability, leverage and swing fundamentals were all very good. This kid could be a dominant hitter at the college level. Defensively, Stropp has quick, compact actions which enable him to register very good pop times without super arm strength. He has the athletic ability to stay behind the plate and that will just make his bat more valuable. Steven is a strong student as well.
