Clarke Schmidt is a 2014 RHP/MIF with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Acworth, GA who attends Allatoona HS. Very slender young build. Leg raise delivery, cross body release, mid 3/4's release point, tough angle for right handed hitters, long loose arm action, fast coming through, maintains some downhill angle. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, hard tailing action at times, lots of velocity projection with additional strength. Big sweeping slider with good depth and spin, angle adds to deception and depth. Just a matter of time until strength kicks in with added velocity. Right handed hitter, consistent sound hitting mechanics, level line drive swing, handles the barrel well. Good student, verbal commitment to South Carolina.
