Ben Cheatham is a 2007 catcher/outfielder from Garland, TX with a strong durable frame and athletic build at 6'2", 190 pounds. He has a very projectable body that shows good core strength. Behind the plate, he showed a strong accurate arm that produced a 1.95 pop time at 72 mph. He is a good receiver with soft hands and handled all the pitchers he caught very well. He hits from a slightly open stance with a wide base, and he uses a no load, no stride approach. He has a slightly lofted swing path with a good high finish. He has good bat control with strong arms and wrists. He has a contact approach and he shows big time power potential with more use of his lower half. He is a strong-bodied catcher with a good arm and a high ceiling. He will develop into the highest level of catching prospects as he matures. Ben is a very good student.
