Preston Turner is a 5'10" first baseman/outfielder from Virginia Beach, VA, with a slender athletic build. He was a 7.12 runner on the slow runnunig surface in Ft Myers. We also had him at 6.97 on one of the hand held stop watches and he profiles much better to the outfield than to first base. He probably runs in the 6.7 or 6.8 range in ideal running conditions. He shows good baseball instincts and a feel for the game. His arm will play at the next level. Despite his size, Turner generates pretty fair bat speed with a good, level swing. He hit the ball hard in both batting practice and during games and even showed the ability to get the bat head out and pull balls hard, something many similarly sized young players can’t do with wood. If he fills out his young body, Turner could evolve into a very good hitter at the college level. He's athletic and projects nicely, with his best years in front of him. Preston is an outstanding student.
