Oscar Santalo is a 5'8" 175 pound 2007 catcher and infielder from Park Vista High School in Lake Worth, Florida. He has a medium frame that is very stocky. Oscar has a quiet approach at the plate and is a patient hitter. He has a short choppy swing with very good bat speed that allows him to drive the ball to the gaps. He is a pull hitter with a line drive swing plane and has very good balance through out his swing. He is very patient as well and makes solid contact who also knows the strike zone. Santalo throws from a 3/4 arm slot. His fastball has some late cut action at 74 mph. His curveball was at 53 mph and his change up at 56 mph. Both pitches are still developing. Oscar is also an excellent student with a 3.9 gpa.
