Nolan Ivie is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Peachtree City, GA, with good overall strength for his size and a solid body. He has a long, loose arm action and throws from a mid ¾’s release point, which gives his 81-83 mph fastball some good running action into right handed hitters. Ivie throws a bit across his body, which helps with the movement on his fastball and his ability to get the ball inside to the righties. His best secondary pitch is a 71 mph change up that has good deception to it. Ivie’s curveball is a 68-71 mph slurve that he throws for consistent strikes early in the count, but that lacks hard spin at present. Ivie is a pretty good hitter, too. He hit three doubles in six showcase at bats and definitely showed some pop in his bat and a nice, quick swing. Ivie is listed as a third baseman, but is a quick and agile athlete who can undoubtedly play second base as well. He can play at a high level. Nolan is an outstanding student.
