3B Mike Rector: Rector is junior third baseman from Iowa with lots of upper body strength. His best tool is his bat and power potential. Rector hits from a spread stance with no stride and consistently pulls the ball hard and has shown plenty of line drive power up the left centerfield alley and down the line. A little less spread in his stance might give him some loft to his swing and get some of those line drives up in the air where they’ll carry. Defensively, Rector’s raw tools don’t stand out as a third baseman but when you watch him play over the course of 6-8 games you notice that he makes all the plays, especially moving to his left into the hole. He has good short range foot quickness and an accurate arm. Rector’s bat should get him some looks from the college coaches in the Upper Midwest. This kid also really likes to play the game and has a great attitude.
