2005 South Top Prospect Showcase
Jackson is a lean 6-3, 170 lb senior right handed pitcher from Louisiana. He was probably the most projectable pitcher at this showcase and is just scratching the surface of his ability. Jackson has a long, fluid, loose arm action with a multi-part delivery that adds deception without throwing off his balance. Jackson's arm comes through just the way you want to see it and the ball leaves his hand effortlessly. His fastball was 84-87 mph with very good boring life into right handed hitters. Jackson's curveball had good velocity up to 74 mph and had tight spin and hard biting action. He also threw an occasional 79 mph change up that looked like a hard split finger pitch. Jackson's frame can handle plenty more strength in the future. Excellent prospect who should lots of high level recruiting attention. Good student.
