Josh Anchondo is a 2006 right handed pitcher from Pecos, Texas, with a mature body and muscular hips and thighs. He has a complicated and deceptive delivery with a big leg kick and full body turn, but maintains good balance throughout it. Anchondo’s arm is smooth and works well. Anchondo’s fastball was in the 81-83 mph range with some tailing movement. Anchondo threw both a 68 mph curveball and 73 mph slider, and had good spin and bite on both pitches. He also threw a 75 mph change up. Anchondo was a little wild on the inside half of the plate, and didn’t look like he’d be really fun to hit off of, especially for a right hander. We’d bet that he chews up high school hitters pretty well, and will have a good chance of duplicating that success at the right college program.
