LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Jeff Schaus is a 2007 left hand hitting outfielder from Barron Collier HS, residing in Naples, FL. Schaus is put together well. He has a plus build that is broad, strong, with a lot of room to fill out. His listing is 6'2" 190 lb. frame. One of the more tooled players, he ranked #60 among PG National Top 100 position players. Schaus swings the bat with authority and seems on the verge of moving into the upper echelon of left hand hitters in the '07 class. He starts with an open stance with hips that start open and stay open through contact. That allows his hands to work easily to and through the ball. Generally Schaus was on time with his free and easy swing. He has a quick bat, started by his quick and strong hands that work very well. Schaus made a lot of good barrel contact and continually showed significant life in his swing. He hits line drives with power and looks like he is an offensive force just waiting to happen. From the outfield his throws carry well and he has a near plus arm. Schaus goes to the ball very well and has enough ball tracking ability to play all three outfield positions in an above average manner. His burst is better than his raw speed, which was 6.96 in the 60, but 4.17 down the line. Look for him to rise up draft lists prior to June and gain early first day consideration. As for college, he is a top tier D1 prospect and should play significant innings as a freshman.
