2004 National Open Top Prospect Showcase
Jason Franzblau is a 5'11", 180 lb. right handed pitcher from Prospect, Kentucky, with a strong, quick arm. He was the top pitching prospect at the showcase. Franzblau throws from a sound, balanced delivery with a good hip turn and a high ¾ release point. He pitched very consistently at 86-87 mph on his fastball from both the wind up and stretch with some sinking action. Franzblau’s curveball was 69-71 mph and after slowing down his arm on a couple in the first inning, he found his rhythm and threw some good ones with hard 11/5 breaking action. Franzblau’s change up is a very good pitch that he can use at the college level. He works quickly on the mound and throws strikes aggressively. Franzblau is a solid student as well. Could be a big sleeper for top college programs.
